We all have those days. The world around us seems to be falling apart and our hearts feel like they’re sinking in our chests. We may feel like we have no idea how we’re going to get through this season. We may start to feel lost, like we have no direction. Stress may be wearing you down to your wits end, and anxiety may be gripping your heart. I get it- it can all be totally overwhelming and just plain exhausting.

And while life isn’t easy to say the least, we do have a God that loves us and is with us every moment. We have a God that is available 24/7, 365 days a year! He is never too busy, He is never too stressed out, nothing shakes Him. He is never surprised by our circumstances. He is stronger and bigger than anything we will ever face. And luckily for us, we can call Him our Father because of Jesus’ shed blood for us! And like any good father, we can come to Him will all of our needs, worries, and problems. He is faithful to hold us, encourage us, and help us through every storm or battle! Jesus is with us through all trials and tribulations that we face. He is right there with us, every step of the way!

Here are my favorite 40 beautiful & uplifting Bible verses to hopefully give you some comfort, hope, and encouragement.

40 Bible Verses for Stress & Anxiety

1. Isaiah 41:10

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

2. Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

3. 1 Peter 5:6-7

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.”

4. Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

5. Philippians 4:19

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

6. Matthew 6:26-34

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

7. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

8. Psalm 46:1-2

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,”

9. Psalm 9:9-10

“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know Your name trust in You, for you Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.”

10. Psalm 91:9-11

“If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”  and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways;”

11. Psalm 37:3-4

“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

13. Psalm 23:1-6

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil. For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

26. Romans 8:28

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.”

27. Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”

28. John 10:28-30

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

29. Psalm 32:8

“Praise the Lord, o my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits— who forgives all your sins, and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, His deeds to the people of Israel: The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will He harbor His anger forever; He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on His children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him; for He knows how we are formed, He remembers that we are dust.

The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children’s children— with those who keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts. The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.

Praise the Lord, you His angels, you mighty ones who do His bidding, who obey His word. Praise the Lord, all His heavenly hosts, you His servants who do His will. Praise the Lord, all His works everywhere in His dominion. Praise the Lord, o my soul.” – Psalm 103:1-22
