As believers, we all go through times where we don’t feel as close to God as we’d like to. We feel distant, and to say the least, it is not a comfortable feeling. Feeling distant may come as a result of sin in your life; perhaps you’ve slipped into sin and haven’t spent much time with God because you feel guilty or ashamed. Maybe you feel distant because you’ve been busy, and life has been hectic. Maybe you’re going through a difficult or painful situation, and it’s made it hard for you to trust God and has damaged your closeness with Him. Whatever it may be, you are not alone.

Whenever we feel distant from God, we are more likely to be vulnerable to give in to sin and the desires of our flesh. We become weak spiritually, and oftentimes emotionally and mentally as a result. We may start to question whether God really forgives us, if He’s really with us or even still loves us. We start to question ourselves, our faith starts to waiver, and we feel unstable. This happens to every believer at some point or another, and the absolute best way to get out of this funk is with none other than the very Word of God. It’s the best medicine! To successfully battle of the flesh and lies of the enemy and the world, we must fill our hearts and minds with God’s truth.  And the truth is that God loves you. He is still with you, and He will pull you through this! He will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5) You are never too far from His unfailing love and grace. Let these verses minister to your heart and encourage you, sister.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12
